The ATS Diesel Co-Pilot Transmission Controller gives you unlimited control over preventing lockup of the converter. The Co-Pilot features push button operation and contributes to better acceleration. It includes an automatic control exhaust brake as well. The exhaust brake helps to slow your engine by stopping the path of the exhaust from the engine, compressing the gases in the exhaust manifold and cylinder. Compressed exhaust in combination with the cutoff of fuel, makes the engine works in the opposite order, slowing down the vehicle.

Stock Programming limits performance

Your trucks performance can be limited because stock programming does not commence lock up until you hit cruising speed. The ATS Co-Pilot solves this problem by holding lock up which enables your vehicle to run cooler transmission temps. When you turn on the Co-Pilot lock up speed is set at around 18mph. There is no switch needed to unlock the converter when stopping so you can feel secure that you not going to end up hurting your engine.

How the Co-Pilot works

With the Commander or Co-Pilot turned on, minimum speed for lock up is approximately 18mph. This safety feature removes worries of killing or lugging the engine, as there’s no manual switching required to unlock the converter clutch when coming to a stop. When you turn the Co-Pilot off, it reverts back to factory settings and the torque converter stays locked. This products works in conjunction with your braking system.
