The BD Diesel Aluminized Turbo Downpipe Kit is designed for the 1993-1994 6.5L GM Duramax. It is constructed of aluminized steel which will repel deterioration. The kit comes with a full set of directions for the do it yourself enthusiast. This kit includes a 3 inch turbine outlet pipe, 1/4″ NPT plug, cap screw, lock washer, but and bolt flange and gasket. This kit also features hefty mandrel-bent tubing. This kit replaces the flatten factory down pipe and it designed to increase the exhaust flow, in turn,  providing your engine with improved response and power.

State of the Art mandrel bending technique

The problem with most stock exhaust systems is that they don’t optimize for the best possible flow.  Because of this your engine is taxed more during combustion. This alone deprives you of horsepower, torque and fuel economy. A restriction in your exhaust system slows down the flow of gases to your engine. This can be attributed to a poorly constructed down pipe. The less constricted your down pipe is, the more flow you will get, meaning more power for you engine. State of the art mandrel bending is a cut above the press bending done by manufacturers in stock engines. When a pipe is bent using the mandrel method, a rod made of a flexible material is attached inside the pipe. This insert stops the pipe from changing diameter during the bending process. This keeps the pipe wide open and in prime condition to give you the flow diameter you need for that added horsepower and torque.

The BD Diesel Valve Body is designed for Dodge 1991-1993 5.9L.

How does a valve body work?

A valve is a mechanism that controls the flow of fluid by opening blocked passages. When a valve is open, liquid flows from a high pressure to a low pressure. Basically the valve is a hinged flap that drops to close fluid movement in one direction and opens in the opposite direction to allow flow. A valve body is a hydraulic control center that collects fluid from the main pump activated by the torque converter. The created pressure is used to control the governor which uses the gearset. When you accelerate, the pressure differences change which allows for some valves to open and close, which in turn drives the clutch and brake. This selects the gears that the valve body uses.

Completely revised and updated components

All components of this product have been revised including the valve system springs. The oil ports and governor pistons have also been enlarged. Internal leakage has become a thing of the past due to the new hand lapped surfaces. The new trim valves have been designed to increase pressure on the mainline. This new design from BD delivers up to 80% higher clutch apply pressure over stock and up to 50% better clutch power than competitors. How does a lift pump work?

A Lift Pump is an electric unit installed on the frame. It is placed here instead of in the tank since its easier to push fuel  instead of trying to pull it from the tank. Another reason is that vibrations from the motor can shorten the life of the pump when installed on the engine. BD Diesel Low Fuel Pressure LED Alarm – Inexpensive Protection!

The purpose of this kit is to indicate to the driver with the red/amber LED, if the supply fuel pressure of the VP44 injection pump is dropping below 5psi. Also note that damage may result to the VP44 if it is starved for fuel. If you are finding that  your existing setup cannot supply enough fuel for the VP44, you may want to look at some additional kits to protect your system.

On newer ISB engines the purpose of the kit is to alarm the driver once the fuel pressure drops below 5psi, indicating that an auxiliary pusher pump is needed. For safety anything over about 400 HP will need an auxiliary pusher pump.

Dodge heavy-duty trucks are known for a lot of things, but unfortunately, precision steering isn’t one of them. If you own one of these trucks, you’ve likely experienced sluggish steering, road wander, or worse yet, the dreaded “death wobble.” These problems are more prevalent in the ’94-’02 trucks (but common to some degree in almost all solid front axle trucks), and can worsen when larger tires and/or weight are added to the truck.
