Purpose of an Exhaust System

What’s the purpose of an Exhaust System?

Most truck manufacturers leave room for improvement when it comes to horsepower and torque. Not to say trucks are poorly made, but many companies use less expensive alternatives when producing items such as exhaust systemsfor their vehicles. An aftermarket exhaust system can add to the performance, appearance, and sound of your truck.

Performance: An exhaust system can free some of the power in your engine. Exhaust systems allow for a quicker, more efficient path for exhaust gases to escape. That means your engine is able to “breathe” better, so used fuel and air exit the combustion chambers faster and new fuel and air can be burned to create more power.

Appearance: A factor to consider when purchasing exhaust systems is the material it is made out of. Most factory exhaust systems are made of mild steel, meaning they have a tendency to deteriorate over time. Better exhaust systems brands, such as ANSA Automotive’s Silverline, are constructed of stainless (T304 & T409) oraluminized steel. Stainless steeloffers longevity, usually for the life of the truck, where aluminized steel offers slightly better longevity over stock systems.
