aFe Cold Air Intake

Get up to 19 hp and 64 lbs of torque with a new air intake system!

The aFe Stage 1 air intake system can get you gains of up to 19hp and 64lbs. of torque and has an outflow that blew the competition away with a 38 percent raise above stock. This system includes a Pro-guard performance air filter that greatly improves air flow for the best performance possible. The completely washable and re-useable filter is made out of 100 percent polyurethane. The aFe Stage 1 air intake system is meant to be a replacement for your trucks stock intake box and in its place offer a one-piece intake system that will bear obvious enhancements in power, airflow and torque.

What comes with the aFe Stage 1 air intake system?

This system comes uses a stock intake tube and comes with a one-piece 16 gauge heat shield. It also includes a giant high-flow reusable filter with conical air filters and a three angle adapter to minimize aerodynamic loss. The hardware that comes with the system is high quality hardware such as head bolts and brass inserts.

How does an air intake system work?

Air comes in through the air intake. The intake consists of  long plastic tubing going into the air filter housing. The air coming in is most beneficial if in a steady stream, thus the use of a long tube.  After the air filter housing the air goes into the air filter and then into the air flow meter. Two types of ARM’s are present in a diesel engine. A Vane and Hot Wire.  the Vane ARM uses a flap that gets pushed back allowing more air to pass and the Hot Wire releases voltage as air heats. After the ARM air flows to the throttle chamber. This chamber controls the airflow to the engine.  When the throttle chamber is shut, the engine idles. Inside this is a bypass chamber that lets some air go past the throttle plate and into the engine. Adjusting the amounts of air that is allowed to pass determines the idle speed of the engine. The throttle position sensor then sends a signal to the trucks computer that determines if the car is idling, midrange cruising, or open throttle. Afterwards, it goes into the intake manifold and into the cylinders. The last part of this process includes the air flowing to the cold start valve which expands as it gets hot. In cold conditions, a large amount of air goes to the throttle plate which produces an increase in idle speed. As it gets warmer, the bypass closes and lowers the idle speed and the engine attains a normal temperature for optimal operation.

What does forced induction mean?

A forced induction is used to bring more power and efficiency to your trucks engine. It is essentially two compressors. Every engines main compression is the compression stroke. An additional compressor going into the intake makes it “forced”.  The pressure created is called boost. The engine with forced induction has a greater compression without detonation because the air charge is cooled by the intercooler. Diesel engines don’t have the problem with pre-ignition because fuel is injected at the end of the compression stroke. That is why compression is used. Most diesels use a turbocharger because the exhaust from a diesel is extremely strong and therefore better for driving a turbo.

The aFe BladeRunner air intake manifold is the next generation in manifold design. It uses a distinctive Multiple Directional Vane technology to lead the air through the manifold and to make for the best use of air flow. This product is constructed of cast aluminum and integrates an internal bolt manufactured to increase the flow of air and to make available a seal that will not leak or retard under extreme conditions. There are 5 ports offered for nitrous injections, gauges and additional accessories.

Water Meth

The AEM Water-Methanol Injection Kit is for high-performance, forced-induction vehicles. Water/Methanol Injection Kits lessen the air inlet temperatures which enable users to intensify boost pressure to produce more power by taking advantage of the system under a heavy load. The kit comes in two options: 1 Gallon kit for racing applications and a 5 gallon HD kit for Diesel applications or for race cars that demand extended range.

What comes with the AEM Water-Methanol Injection Kit?

Both kits include all the required parts to do water/methanol injection correctly the first time around. Included is a standard fluid level sensor, recirculation-style pump, a controller with all the features you crave, and complete hardware and installation instructions for nearly any diesel purpose.

How does a water/methanol injection kit work?

After installation a boost-dependant, variable -flow progressive controller permits the user to establish the correct mixture of water/methanol to supply into the inlet stream from the fluid reservoir. The controller directs a high-pressure recirculation-style 150-PSI pump that transports the mixture. Overall flow modifications at the inlet are made through one of the three different sized jets included in the kit to match most engine requirements in regards to power.

Compared to the older model switched-style pumps, AEM’s recirculation-style pump is far superior. It offers unparalleled reliability and provides a much smoother ride. The all new internal bypass design halts erratic control switching and provides unfailing fluid delivery for top notch performance. Manufactured with Santoprene diaphram and EPDM seals, this pump will tolerate the the most severe of alcohol combinations.

Built in Boost Safe Element

AEM Water/Methanol controllers in this injection kit have a Boost Safe element. It lets the user delay timing or diminish boost through a ground output if the system is depleted of fluid or identifies a controller error ensuring dependable operation of the engine weather the engine is running or not. Important safeguards have been built into the system to cut down on the chances of non-operation. Some of these safeguards are a fluid level sensor in the reservoir, internal controller diagnostics and an LED dash light to warn the user of a low fluid leveler an error code.

NOTE: This kit is intended for use for cars in racing applications. Vehicles with water/methanol systems are not allowed on highways!
